Santiago Cáseres Signs with Club America

Mexico City, MX – Club America have made an official announcement as to who is going to replace Guido Rodriguez. The club broke the news in the afternoon on Wednesday January 29th. The team has acquired Argentinean midfielder Santiago Cáseres from Villarreal. The 22-year-old comes on loan with the option to buy at the end of the Clausura 2020. The Velez Sarsfield academy graduate will be tasked with the responsibility of filling the gap left behind by Guido Rodriguez.

Santiago Cáseres Becomes Club America’s New No. 5

Club America where linked to various players when it came to finding their new center midfielder. Names like Roberto Piris Da Mota, Nicolas Acevedo, and Renato Tapia where all linked to the team this transfer window. The only player that wasn’t mentioned was Santiago Cáseres. A player known for his ability on the ball and his positioning on the field.

The move from the Coapa side came out of left field. With this signing the team see’s yet another foreign youngster migrates to Mexico. As of late the team has left behind their old philosophy from bringing in big name older players. Now they look to bring in younger and more potential based players.

Cáseres is now the third and potentially final signing of the transfer window for Club America. He joins his national comrade Leo Suarez who joined earlier this month from Villarreal as well. A link the club utilized to not only draw the player to come, but also a creative way to unveil the signing via a FaceTime video between the two players.

In his first season at Villarreal the Argentinean made a total of 35 appearances. This move could be exactly what the young promising midfielder may need to truly achieve his potential. Since he has not featured for the Spaniard side at all this year. With regular minutes Santiago Cáseres can be a real asset to the team.

When we can expect Cáseres to debut will all depend on Miguel Herrera. He will first need to adapt to the altitude and rhythm of the league. In the end with the team injuries and lack of depth the players’ chances of him playing may be sooner rather than later.
