The Reds had a hot start in this game. In the 7th minute, they worked the ball down their right flank. Center forward Jozy Altidore went out wide to collect the ball and found space to send a pass in to Tsubasa Endoh. Endoh shot first time, sending the ball off the bottom of the crossbar and in.

Toronto doubled their advantage in the 12th minute. Lalas Abubakar was called for a foul, bringing Altidore in the box. Alejandro Pozuelo chipped the penalty up the middle with Clint Irwin diving to the side.

A half hour in, Keegan Rosenberry pulled one back. Colorado moved the ball into the final third. He and Sam Nicholson had a one-two sequence. Nicholson cross the ball into the box. Rosenberry and Michael Bradley went for the ball as it deflected off Bradley to Rosenberry, who smashed it into the back of the net.

Kei Kamara had several chances to score. He missed a penalty drawn by Nicholson then an unchallenged header in the final minutes of the first half.

Sam Nicholson tied the game in the 62nd minute off a set piece, set up by Rosenberry. Jonathan Osorio made it 3-2 on the 70th minute on a counter attack. Marco Delgado found Erickson Gallardo on the run with a long ball. He passed to Osorio near the penalty spot of the box who chipped a diving Irwin.

The match ended 3-2.

Three Takeaways:

Kamara comes up short: Kamara had two good chances to score but couldn’t. The PK goal could have changed the game but he wasn’t enough and Colorado ultimately came up short.

Reds win must-win: Quentin Westberg made a couple key saves and the front line for the Reds was good in scoring three goals. Altidore couldn’t score but was a physical force and a pest.

Fraser beaten by former side: Manager Robin Fraser loses his first game as manager of Colorado in a game where his team had chances but didn’t put forth a performance they expected or needed.
