COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (June 8, 2019) – Colorado Rapids are now unbeaten in five games. Thanks to a Kei Kamara goal, the Rapids defeated Minnesota United FC 1-0 in a very ‘Keep Fighting’ game. Brent Kallman and the Loons had a frustrating night. The team struggled to create chances for long stretches; Kallman took several knocks as well.

The first good chance of the first half came in the 20th minute. After some good moment on the counter, Andre Shinyashiki won a corner. On the corner, Sam Nicholson headed the ball down but wide of goal.
The Loons struggled to create chances in this half. Colorado confronted the attack from just outside the final third and made it difficult for them to go up the middle. Darwin Quintero was poor for long stretches. Ethan Finlay got open on a few occasions but wasn’t able to make anything of the chances.
Colorado got on the board off a corner in the 29th minute. Kamara got a running start on a header and scored unchallenged on the ball from Price. Just before that, Brent Kallman appeared to take a hit from the ball or an arrant boot from Kellyn Acosta who was trying to play the ball.
The center back went down for a moment, checked his face/mouth for blood, but continued to play. He had a conversation with Ramy Touchan before the corner.
Minnesota had a good share of the ball in the second half but again struggled to create chances. Lawrence Olum knocked down a cross right in front of goal in the 56th minute but the ball rolled just wide of the post.
Substitute Nicholas Mezquida appeared to make it 2-0 in the 70th minute but the goal was disallowed due to a foul on goalkeeper Vito Mannone.
MNUFC had a few half chances in the final 20 minutes but could not muster a goal. The game ended 1-0.

Quintero, Minnesota in a slump: Minnesota has now lost three games in a row. Quintero continues to struggle and no one has picked up the slack offensively. Defensively, they haven’t kept a clean sheet on the road since March.
Set pieces: With not many chances coming from the run of play and build up lacking at times, set pieces played a major role in this game. The only goal was scored on a corner. Tommy Smith and Angelo Rodriguez both had chances.
Kamara scores in a win: Kei Kamara had yet to score in a Rapids win this season, until tonight.
