HAMILTON, Ont. (April 4, 2019) – A healthy crowd of supporters filled out EndZone Bar and Grill to get their first look at the inaugural Forge FC jersey. Onlookers cheered and jeered as other Canadian Premier League Clubs’ first season kits were revealed via live stream from the reveal party in Toronto. When it was Forge’s turn to strut their stuff, fans exploded. Here’s what they had to be excited about:

Team Kits Revealed

All seven teams had their home and away kits revealed, each one a custom creation in consultation with Macron. The front shirt sponsors are some of the biggest brands in Canada, including WestJet, Volkswagen, and Hamilton’s own Tim Horton’s.

Reaction to the jerseys was overwhelmingly positive. Forge FC players David Choinière, Daniel Krutzen, Monti Mohsen, and Alexander Achinioti Jönsson were on hand to model the new kits in person, as well as meet with fans.

Two New Signings Announced

The club also announced two new signings on Wednesday. Canadian forward Anthony Novak and defender Klaidi Cela. Both players have experience in League1 Ontario.

Novak, 24, won the League1 Golden Boot in 2018, scoring 20 in 18 appearances for the Oakville Blue Devils. The Pickering, ON native spent three years with Oakville, making 39 appearances across that time. Novak provides another strong attacking option for Head Coach Bobby Smyrniotis alongside Emery Welshman, Chris Nanco, and Marcel Zajac.

Klaidi Cela spent time in the Toronto FC Academy before transferring to the Portuguese third tier in 2016. The 19 year old defender returned to Canada in 2018, joining coach Smyrniotis at Sigma FC in League1 Ontario. The 6’3″ defender adds extra depth to the Forge FC defensive core, though is unlikely to start to begin the season.

Warm Weather Training

Forge FC and the other Canadian Premier League clubs head to the Dominican Republic later this week to train in the sun and close out preparation for the season’s first game on April 27th. The teams will do on-field and off-field work until April 15 before returning home to play their final pre-season matches.
