Podcast (March 14, 2019) – Hello Rapids fans! Ugh, so about that game in Seattle . . . This week on Holding The High Line, Rabbi and Red talk about that Matt Pentz tweet. We discuss kindness and lowbrow comments in the context of being a soccer writer. The guys recap the Colorado Rapids loss to Seattle Sounders FC. Mark breaks down the problems at centerback this past week and Matt takes a look at the diamond midfield that was more of a lumpy coal midfield. Also, we define Total Football and explain how the Pids did not do that on Saturday.

We then turn towards the artist formally known as the Wiz, Sporting KC. The guys revisit this veteran and stacked roster. We talk about Sporting’s CONCACAF Champions League dilemma and what it means for Sunday. Some former SKC players on Colorado could be in good positions to have success. We also banter about Gedion Zelalem signing.

The show finishes up with a big picture #AskHTHL.

Matt Pollard is the Site Manager for Last Word on Soccer and an engineer by day. A Colorado Convert, he started covering the Colorado Rapids as a credentialed member of the press in 2016, though he’s watched MLS since ’96. When he’s not watching or writing about soccer, he’s being an outdoorsman (mostly skiing and hiking) in this beautiful state or trying a new beer. For some reason, he thought that starting a podcast with Mark was a good idea and he can’t figure out how to stop this madness. He also hosts Last Word SC Radio.

Mark Goodman, the artist formally known as Rapids Rabbi, moved to Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter he went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, saw Lee Nguyen dribble a ball with the silky smoothness of liquid chocolate cascading into a Bar Mitzvah fountain, and promptly fell head over heels in love with domestic soccer. When not watching soccer or coaching his son’s U-8 team, he’s generally studying either Talmud or medieval biblical exegesis. Which explains why he watches so much MLS, probably. Having relocated to Pittsburgh in 2019, he covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL for Pittsburgh Soccer Now. His popular Back Pass column will feature at the Denver Post this season.
