Podcast (November 2, 2018) – Hello Rapids fans! This week on Holding The High Line with Rabbi and Red we have a lot to talk about as we put the 2018 Colorado Rapids season to rest. We start off with some somber banter as Mark puts soccer woes in perspective with first-hand accounts in the aftermath of the Tree of Life shooting in Pittsburgh.

Holding The High Line: Closing out the 2018 Colorado Rapids season

We recap the Rapids finishing the season with a 2-1 win over the now eliminated FC Dallas. The guys do Good Thing, Bad Thing, Big Thing with commentary from events on and off the field. We do recap the incidents involving Centennial 38 and various authority figures throughout Fan Appreciation Day to the extent that we know stuff.

The guys then move on to discuss the worst kept secret in Colorado Soccer, the new affiliation between the Rapids and the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the 2019 season. We close with some shameless plugs and predicting the MLS Cup Champion.

During the show, Rabbi and Red both discuss matters near and dear to their hearts. If you’d like to help out the Pittsburgh Jewish community, click here. If you’d like to help out Matt’s project with Engineers Without Borders or learn more about the Brews For Tanzania event, click here.

Matt Pollard is the Managing Editor of Last Word on Soccer and an engineer by day. A Colorado Convert, he started covering the Colorado Rapids as a credentialed member of the press in 2016, though he’s watched MLS since ’96. When he’s not watching or writing about soccer, he’s being an outdoorsman (mostly skiing and hiking) in this beautiful state or trying a new beer. For some reason, he thought that starting a podcast with Mark was a good idea and he can’t figure out how to stop this madness. He also hosts Last Word SC Radio.

Mark Goodman, the artist formally known as Rapids Rabbi, moved to Colorado in 2011. Shortly thereafter he went to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, saw Lee Nguyen dribble a ball with the silky smoothness of liquid chocolate cascading into a Bar Mitzvah fountain, and promptly fell head over heels in love with domestic soccer. When not watching MLS or coaching U8 soccer, he’s generally studying either Talmud or medieval biblical exegesis. Which explains why he watches so much MLS, probably. He writes about the Rapids for Around MLS and covers the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL for Last Word on Soccer. He also writes for American Soccer Analysis.
