Vincent Bezecourt Injured in Columbus
The French midfielder left the game against Columbus Crew SC in the 18th minute. He has since been diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his right knee. Tyler Adams, Tim Parker Return from International Duty
Following call-ups for friendlies against Ireland and France, midfielder Tyler Adams and defender Tim Parker returned for league play. They discussed their experiences today after training. “[I]t was cool to step on the field with… guys that are from the Premier League,” Adams said. The Wappingers Falls (NY) native has earned five caps with the senior team.
Parker, who earned his first cap followed by his first start, was pleased to have made an impact for the national team. “[France is] off to the World Cup and their country wants to send them off the right way and we obviously wanted to play the villain in that story.” Parker and Adams return in time to face the Seattle Sounders for a midweek MLS match.
Still Missing Pieces
The Red Bulls continue to be without defenders Michael Amir Murillo and Fidel Escobar. The Panamanian internationals are in Russia and will play in Group G with Belgium, Tunisia, and England. Alejandro “Kaku” Romero Gamarra is expected to return this week from his time with the Paraguayan national team. He made his debut in the 59th minute in a friendly match against Japan.
The Red Bulls drew the Philadelphia Union for the next round of the Open Cup. That match is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th at Talen Energy Stadium. Before then, they return to MLS play on Wednesday night when they welcome the Seattle Sounders to Red Bull Arena.
