Colorado Rapids And FC Dallas Draw 1-1 Off Goals From Aigner and Harris
The two sides played to an exciting opening first half. Just six minutes in, Axel Sjoberg got his head on the ball off a corner and headed it off the bar. The teams combined for eight first half corners, with several chances coming off of them.
It was the Rapids who took the lead just 15 minutes in. Joshua Gatt got the ball moving from a wide position in transition. He found Stefan Aigner with a great pass in the box. The German International took a touch to control then half-volleyed it off Goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez to score.
Dallas’s best chance came in the 35th minute. Ryan Hollingshead overlapped and made Marlon Hairston miss on a tackle. The full back couldn’t get his shot on goal and it was out for a corner.
The half ended 1-0 with Bismark Nana Boateng a yellow card caution.
The match picked up right where it left off, with both teams going for it and creating chance after chance. Just six minutes in, Alan Gordon got straight up robbed. Aigner found his forehead on a cross just a few yards from goal. Gordon headed it towards the far post but Gonzalez got a hand to it to deflect it off frame.
Dallas found their goal minutes later. Atiba Harris went into the box on a corner and beat everyone to the ball. He headed it down and into the back of the net, giving MacMath no chance to make the save. It was all tied up in the 54th minute.
The two sides traded chance after chance up and down the field but neither could find the back of the net. The match ended 1-1.

54′ Dallas – Atiba Harris, assisted by Javier Morales
There isn’t much to say about this game in the big picture given Colorado are not completing for the playoffs. Dallas picking up a point helps their playoff hopes, but they really could have used three points. It looks like that last sport or two in the Western Conference could come down to decision day. This result did officially eliminate Minnesota United FC for what that’s worth.
In the small picture, Colorado played one of their more solid games. They scored the first goal, and overall created lots of chances. The two teams combined for 11 shots on target. For a game between two struggling teams (with only one competing for a playoff spot), this Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas draw was an entertaining game of soccer.
