Raising Bulls – 13 September 2016 – USL Champions
The New York Red Bulls II are now officially the champions for the 2016 USL regular season. That means they will enjoy home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and the players are surely salivating at the chance of lifting a trophy at home.
This week, we discuss the double game week with Harrisburg City Islanders and Rochester Rhinos. The Red Bulls dismantled Harrisburg City thanks to goals from Vincent Bezecourt and Noah Powder. Each had a brace in the game. The Red Bulls won, 4-1. Then they headed up to the house of horrors in Rochester, and pulled out a late draw against the 2015 champs. Vincent Bezecourt scored in his second game in a row with a free kick in the 90th minute.
This week, Red Bull plays FC Montreal at Red Bull Arena. Montreal has adjusted their fortunes of late thanks to a strong showing in August. The performances are in a large part due to the stellar play of Anthony Jackson-Hamill. Jackson-Hamill is a Montreal homegrown player who now has nine goals and two assists in 13 games for FC.
