Mason joins the club as part of a slew of international signings from this off-season. He is now the fourth player to be brought over from the British Continent, along with Tommy Smith, Danny Wilson, and fellow former Wolves player Jack Price.
“There’s no doubt that Joe will be a major boost to our front line. His finishing and movement in and around the box is very intelligent. He’ll not only help us from a goal scoring standpoint, but he’s also the type of player who makes those around him better. We look forward to welcoming him to Colorado,” said Rapids Executive Vice President & General Manager, Pádraig Smith.
The 26-year-old turned professional under his youth club, Plymouth Argyle in 2009. In 2011, he made a move to Cardiff City, where he scored 22 goals in 97 appearances from 2011-2016. During that time, he had several loan stints with Bolton Wanderers.
He made the move to Wolves in 2016. In total, he has scored 42 goals in the English Championship in nine professional seasons.
“This is an exciting new chapter of my career. I’m very grateful for the support shown by everyone at Wolves during my time there, but the Rapids are an ambitious club and I can’t wait to get to Colorado, meet the guys, and help this team reach its goals,” said Mason.
