The New York Red Bulls continue to have a very eventful off-season. After already a few trades and signings, the Red Bulls continue to make moves to make this team quite younger. Cristian Casseres, Jr. will be the most recent name to join the Red Bulls squad. While no official deal has been announced by the club, there have been numerous confirmed sightings at Red Bulls training. He has been spotted on the Red Bulls Twitter page, as well as on his own Instagram sporting a Red Bulls training shirt. The now 18-year-old Venezuelan midfielder comes over from Venezuelan club Deportivo La Guaira.

The young player comes in with quite a bit of hype. Many have compared him from a talent level standpoint to that of fellow Red Bulls teenager Tyler Adams. However, Casseres will certainly have to prove himself before even dreaming of gaining first squad minutes. Casseres only made 13 appearances in 2017 for his club and only made two in 2016. He scored one goal in the 2017 season.

The youngster does have a fair amount of youth international experience for Venezuela. He has had a handful of appearances for the U-17 side of Venezuela scoring one goal in seven appearances at the CONMEBOL SUDAMERICANO SUB 17 tournament. Casseres was also called in for training for the U-20 side in their preparation for the for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Red Bulls Impact

It is very unlikely Casseres will have an immediate impact with the first squad. He has only a handful of top squad experience for his former club in Venezuela. He will most likely get most of his competitive minutes in 2018 on New York Red Bulls II. There he should get solid playing time week in and week out to be able to show his stuff and adapt to the new program. Casseres certainly has a lot of potential to be a great player. With quite a huge upside, both the coaching staff and the supporters will be watching his progress closely.
