CARSON, CA – On Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 the LA Galaxy presented their newest edition to their squad, Pele van Anholt. The 26 year old Dutch fullback joins the Los Angeles side after spending a year with Eredivisie side Willen II. He previously played for SC Heerenveen for six years, making over 100 appearances for the club. In addition to that, he had a one-year loan spell in the Dutch second division with FC Emmem in the 2010-11 season.
LA Galaxy General Manager spoke very highly of the newest signing today. He said, “Pele is a talented and versatile player who will immediately add quality and experience to our defense.” Head coach Curt Onalfo also spoke well of the van Anholt. Saying his experience in the Netherlands makes him a productive experience player. He also said, “We are confident that we will suit him well in our league.”
Pele van Anholt arrived to Los Angeles this week to complete his move. The Dutch defender will train with the team on Thursday, July 13. He will be available for selection come Saturday, July 15 when the LA Galaxy play against Manchester United at the StubHub Center. Kick-off time is 7:00pm PT.
