CARSON, CA (May 6, 2017) – LA Galaxy II have added some needed depth. The have signed midfielder Jonathan Hernandez. The academy product is 20-years-old and has spent one year playing college soccer at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.

“We’re very excited to bring one of our own back into the organization,” said Mike Muñoz, LA Galaxy II Head Coach. “Jonathan is a talented midfielder with a lot of potential, and we look forward to his development in our system.”
Hernandez hails from Pasadena, CA. He joined the Galaxy Academy in 2015. Along with Los Dos forward Ethan Zubak, Hernandez is a member of the Galaxy Academy’s inaugural high school class (2016).
In one year at Mt. San Antonio, Hernandez recorded one goal and six assists. The Mounties won their fifth CCCAA State Championship. Hernandez was named to the Junior College Division II All-West Region Second Team.
With this signing, LA Galaxy II now have nine former LA Galaxy Academy players on their roster of fifteen. Additionally, the Galaxy have nine former academy players on the MLS roster.
Los Dos take on local rival Orange County SC tonight at 5 pm PST. It’s unclear if Hernandez will be available for the match or where he will ultimately fit into the squad in the midfield. We’ll have to wait and see.
