New York Red Bulls vs. Philadelphia Union: Three Things To Watch

Road Struggles Continue In 2017

The Red Bulls once again are finding a tough time getting results on the road. After they started the season with a surprising 2-1 comeback away at Atlanta United, it has not been pretty since. The Red Bulls have followed up the first road win with four consecutive road losses. In this stretch, they have been outscored by their opposition 11-4. The Red Bulls have also failed to find the back of the net at all in their past two matches. With the Red Bulls going up against a Union side still looking for their first win, Saturday will be a good time to reverse this unsettling trend.

Fredrik’s First Goal

For Fredrik Gulbrandsen, it has been a slightly frustrating start to his stint with the Red Bulls. Gulbrandsen has shown he is more then capable of being a threat for the Red Bulls. He has shown great pace, as well as the ability to make dangerous runs into the box. The ball just isn’t going in for him right now. However, several chances in the most recent stretch of matches show he is getting close. If Gulbrandsen can get it going, it will take a tremendous scoring load off Bradley Wright-Phillips.

Luis Robles

Luis Robles is once again having an amazing year for the Red Bulls. With his back four once again seeing a injury filled start to the season, he continues to be rock for the Red Bulls. Without Robles, Wednesday night’s match against Sporting Kansas City could have been a lot worse then 2-0 defeat. With a Philadelphia side hunting for their first win, Robles will certainly need another strong outing.

Predicted Starting XI

Match Prediction

The Red Bulls have a tough test ahead of them. The Union have tested the Red Bulls quite a few times over the past few seasons. The Red Bulls will need an early goal to ramp up the pressure on Philadelphia. This will cause Philly to commit more mistakes and the Red Bulls will be able to punish them with their press. In the end, the Red Bulls will end their road losing streak with a 2-1 victory.
