The New York Red Bulls have fallen for the second straight week after a 1-0 road loss vs. Orlando City SC. The Red Bulls failed to capitalize on the better spell of possession, as well as numerous chances through out the match. RBNY have now scored five goals in their first six games, two being own goals. It has certainly been a struggle to start the season for the Red Bulls.
New York Red Bulls Player Grades vs. Orlando City SC
Luis Robles: A
Luis Robles had himself another fine performance. Robles made a number of fine saves to keep the Red Bulls in the match. His one-on-one save against Cyle Larin in the second half was his finest work of the afternoon. Robles may very well be finding himself up for another MLS Save of the Week award.
Aurelien Collin B-
Collin had a solid game bouncing back from an injury last week. The Red Bulls center back did well on the defensive side of the ball and was one of the Red Bulls most dangerous players offensively. He was able to connect on several headers off set pieces, however, was unable to find the back of the net with any of them. Collin looks like he has earned the starting role to partner Aaron Long in the Center-back position.
Felipe Martins: B-
Felipe had another noteworthy performance. He continues to be disruptive and mad many great recovery runs to bail out teammates. Felipe may very well be the most underrated player on the Red Bulls roster.
Tyler Adams C-
Adams still has a lot to learn. This match was certainly a big indication of that. He struggled to read the game and found himself caught out on many occasions. Adams also lacked communication with Felipe. Now that Adams is the starter, these two will need to find some chemistry for the Red Bulls to have success.
Sacha Kljestan: D
Kljestan has vanished for the Red Bulls. He has taken a total 180 turn from the player his was in 2016. Struggling both on and off the ball, as well as looking very slow. Kljestan’s set pieces are another aspect of his game that is currently less then to be desired. While he improved in the second half, the Red Bulls were still unable to produce. Kljestan needs to improve if the Red Bulls are to get themselves out of this slide they are currently in.
