Last Word SC: USL Playoff Preview (Mark Turner, Joe Goldstein) and Clint Dempsey Injury
First, Matt Pollard sits down with Mark Turner to talk about the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Mark discussed a disappointing end to the season and how the Switchbacks will turn it around against Vancouver Whitecaps II. The two discuss the rest of the USL field and why they think OKC Energy FC could upset RGVFC Toros. Then Mark gives his predictions for the weekend’s match.
In segment two, Joe Goldstein jumps on to talk about the Baby Bulls and how they won the lamely names USL equivalent of the Supporter’s Shield. The USL Regular Season Championship? Seriously guys, get your branding together. Who do you think you are, the NASL? Lol, jk. Joe breaks down what New York Red Bulls II will do against Orlando City SC B. The two discuss home field advantage and why the Rochester Rhinos could be the team to beat in the east. Lastly, the lads give their take on the USL deciding to use a bid process to determine who hosts the USL final, rather than having the team with the better record host.
In the round table Matt and Joe get all sad about Clint Dempsey‘s irregular heart beat and him missing the rest of the season. They discuss how it will impact the Seattle Sounders and their playoff hopes. They also discuss how this could impact the U.S. Men’s National Team in the Hexagonal. Lastly, the two spit out some hot takes on who’s missing the playoffs in MLS and do some weekend previews.
